Megantara Nawa Karya: On the Name, the Philosophy, and the Desire to Create Something Meaningful

IDBaca versi Indonesia

Behind a company's name lies a way of seeing the world, a set of convictions, and hopes for the future.

There are many ways to choose a company name. Some choose something easy to remember, some look for a name that sounds modern, while others use a term that describes their line of business.

When I chose the name PT Megantara Nawa Karya, I wanted something different. I wanted a name with depth of meaning. A name that would not only represent the work we do today, but also capture how we see the world, technology, knowledge, and the future.

To me, building a company is not merely about creating products, gaining customers, or generating profit. There is something more fundamental: the desire to create work that is useful and leaves value behind for others.

It was from this way of thinking that the name Megantara Nawa Karya was born.

Megantara: Breadth of Vision and the Courage to Go Beyond Limits

I chose the word Megantara because it carries a sense of vastness, grandeur, and possibility. In my own philosophical reading, the word evokes an unlimited horizon — a wide-open space where ideas can grow and connect with one another. The element mega reminds me of something great, while antara carries a suggestion of space and relationship. Megantara, to me, is a symbol of breadth of thought.

I believe people should not confine their thinking to what is already available or considered possible today. Many technological advances were once thought impossible, yet are now an ordinary part of human life.

Yet that breadth also carries humility. The more we learn, the more we understand how little we truly know compared to the vastness of the world.

That is why I want Megantara to be a reminder to keep learning, to keep questioning, and to dare to look for new possibilities.

We may never be able to reach the entire horizon, but that is no reason to stop walking toward it.

Nawa: A Perfection That Is Never Truly Finished

The word Nawa relates to the number nine in Sanskrit and Javanese tradition. I read the number nine symbolically as a stage on the way to maturity — the last digit before the sequence of numbers moves up to the next level.

There is an idea within this symbolism that I love: every achievement is, at its core, the beginning of a new journey.

In technology development, a product is never truly finished. Needs keep changing, new problems keep emerging, and there is always a better way to do things.

The same goes for human life. We learn from our mistakes, refine our understanding, and grow into people different from who we were before.

I want that spirit to live within the company: never complacent with achievements, never assuming we know everything, and always open to change.

To me, progress is not a final state, but a process that continues without end.

Karya: Because Ideas Must Take Shape

Of the three words, Karya — work — may be the simplest, yet it is the heart of them all. Great ideas will produce no change if they stop at being thoughts. Knowledge, creativity, and technical skill only gain practical value when they are realized into something beneficial.

I have always been drawn to how technology can solve problems that look simple but actually carry a great impact on everyday life. A merchant struggling to record transactions, a business owner forced to pay expensive shipping fees, or someone who wants to read books but has limited access to them. These are the problems I believe deserve attention.

After all, innovation does not always have to mean creating something that has never existed before. Sometimes innovation is making something complicated simple, something expensive affordable, or something hard to access available to more people.

Good work does not only demonstrate the ability of its creator; it also brings benefit to those who use it.

Bringing the Philosophy to Life Through Real Products and Initiatives

I do not want the philosophy of Megantara Nawa Karya to remain a string of beautiful sentences decorating a company profile. Those values need a tangible form.

Today, we bring that spirit to life through Kasirco, AntarPaket.id, and PustakaSaku. The three take different approaches and pursue different goals, but they share one common thread: using technology to expand opportunity and create benefit.

Kasirco: Making Technology More Affordable for Business Owners

Kasirco is one expression of my conviction that technology should be within reach of business owners at every scale.

Running a business involves a great deal of administrative work that drains time and energy. Recording sales, counting inventory, managing transactions, and understanding business profit are all important activities — yet not always easy to do manually.

Kasirco exists to help simplify that work. Through cashier applications for restaurants, retail, and laundry businesses, we strive to deliver a business management system that is practical, easy to use, and affordable.

One principle we hold on to is the one-time license model with no monthly subscription fees. For large companies, software costs may be a small part of operations. But for micro and small business owners, every expense matters.

I do not want subscription fees to become a barrier that keeps someone from using technology that could help their business grow.

Kasirco is not merely an application for recording transactions. To me, Kasirco is an effort to give small business owners the opportunity to make use of better business management technology.

I believe small businesses should not have to be managed by hand forever, simply because of limited capital.

Technology should help a business grow — not become a new burden for it to carry.

AntarPaket.id: Simplifying Logistics and Opening Business Opportunities

If Kasirco focuses on business management, AntarPaket.id was born from attention to another problem no less important: logistics and the delivery of goods.

For many business owners — especially SMEs and online sellers — shipping costs are one of the factors that shape competitiveness. High delivery costs can make product prices less competitive, while a complicated shipping process consumes time that should be spent growing the business.

Through AntarPaket.id, we want to deliver a shipping experience that is simpler, more transparent, and more economical. Users can compare rates across courier services, choose the service that suits their needs, get shipping discounts, pay conveniently, and take advantage of package pickup directly from their location.

We are also developing integration support for online stores and business systems through APIs and plugins.

The goal is not simply to build a shipping platform. I want to help reduce the obstacles small business owners so often face in distributing their products.

I picture a small business owner reaching customers across many regions without having to own their own logistics infrastructure. Technology makes that increasingly possible.

To me, AntarPaket.id is part of the effort to widen economic opportunity through more efficient access to logistics. A good product deserves the chance to reach its buyer, unimpeded by the complexities of the shipping process.

PustakaSaku: Care for Literacy and Access to Knowledge

Not everything we build has to serve a commercial purpose. Some things, I believe, hold value far greater than financial profit — one of them being knowledge.

It is from this thinking that PustakaSaku holds a special place in the journey of Megantara Nawa Karya.

PustakaSaku is a digital library initiative that provides free access to books, including classic works of world literature translated into Indonesian. Its collection focuses on public-domain works that can be presented and accessed legally.

PustakaSaku is part of our care for literacy, education, and equal access to knowledge.

I hold the belief that books are not merely collections of writing. Books are one of the ways humans pass down thought, experience, culture, and knowledge from one generation to the next. Through books, a person can encounter lives they have never lived, understand ideas from eras different from their own, and question what was previously taken to be true.

I believe reading plays an essential role in shaping critical thinking and broadening how people understand the world. Yet access to reading materials is not always equal. Not everyone has the means to buy many books. Not every region has a library with an adequate collection.

Digital technology offers an opportunity to narrow that gap. Through PustakaSaku, we want to help create a space where knowledge can be accessed without making economic means the main requirement for reading.

I do not see PustakaSaku as merely a website. To me, PustakaSaku is a statement of values. That technology companies also carry a social responsibility. That not everything must be measured through revenue. And that knowledge, when shared, can be one of the most valuable forms of contribution to society.

If Kasirco helps people manage their business, and AntarPaket.id helps people extend the reach of their business, then PustakaSaku is here to help widen the horizon of their thinking.

The three are different, yet they complement one another within the same vision.

Why Should a Technology Company Care About Education?

I believe economic development and intellectual development should never be separated. Technology can help people work faster. Education and knowledge, however, help people understand what those capabilities should be used for.

A society is not complete with sophisticated devices alone. It also needs the ability to read, to think critically, to understand information, and to make rational decisions.

To me, technological progress that is not matched by growth in the quality of human thinking loses most of its meaning. That is why I see care for literacy as part of a company's moral responsibility.

We certainly cannot solve every problem in education. PustakaSaku is not the answer to every barrier to knowledge, either. But I believe a small contribution, made consistently, still matters.

If a single book made available for free can lead someone to fall in love with reading, discover new ideas, or see the world from a different point of view, the effort already has value.

Not every benefit has to show up in a financial report. Some benefits may only be felt years later, when the knowledge a person gained shapes the way they live their life.

A Nusantara Identity in a Technology Company

I also deliberately chose a name that carries the flavor of Nusantara language and culture. In the technology industry, using English names or modern-sounding terms has become the norm. I do not consider that wrong.

But I believe an Indonesian company does not have to lose its identity in order to take part in the development of world technology. We can build modern software, learn the latest technologies, and hold global ambitions without abandoning our own cultural roots.

To me, the name Megantara Nawa Karya has that character. There is a sense of grandeur in the way it sounds, yet at the same time a closeness to the richness of language that lives within our traditions.

I imagine this name as something with roots and wings at once.

Roots that remind us where we come from, and wings that allow us to reach a wider world.

A Company That Grows Together With Trust

I am aware that building a company is far harder than naming one. A name can be created in a single day, but a reputation takes years to build.

Trust is not born from marketing promises, attractive product design, or the size of a company. Trust grows through consistency, honesty, responsibility, and the willingness to correct mistakes.

In software development, unexpected challenges are always present. There are program errors that must be fixed, user needs that keep changing, and technical decisions that need to be re-evaluated.

I do not want to build the image of a company that seemingly never makes mistakes. What I want to build is a company brave enough to take responsibility for its work and committed to keep becoming better.

The same principle applies to social initiatives. Care should not stop at declarations — it needs to be realized through actions whose benefits can be felt.

Because in the end, a company is judged not only by what it says, but also by what it actually does.

The Philosophy of Megantara Nawa Karya

If all of this thinking were to be summarized, I read the name Megantara Nawa Karya as:

"A vast horizon for the birth of new works that bring benefit."

Megantara stands for breadth of vision and the courage to explore possibilities. Nawa stands for maturity, renewal, and the spirit of continuous growth. Karya stands for real action — turning thought into something useful.

That philosophy is also reflected in what we build. Kasirco is a work to help business owners operate more efficiently. AntarPaket.id is a work to simplify logistics and widen economic opportunity. PustakaSaku is a work born of care for literacy, education, and access to knowledge.

I want these three to be a beginning, not a final limit, of what we can do.

Closing: What We Want to Leave Behind

I do not know how big Megantara Nawa Karya will be in ten or twenty years. There may be new products, new fields of business, and all kinds of ideas that have not even been thought of today.

Technology will keep changing. The needs of society will evolve, and so will the challenges that must be faced.

But I hope the values that form the foundation of this company remain the same.

I want to build a company that does not only pursue growth, but also understands why growth matters. A company that does not only create technology, but also thinks about the people who use it. A company that does not see society merely as a market, but as part of life itself — with its own interests, hopes, and needs to grow.

Kasirco and AntarPaket.id are part of our effort to create economic value. PustakaSaku is part of our conviction that usefulness does not always have to produce profit.

I believe the two can walk side by side. For the success of a company is not determined solely by how much profit it manages to accumulate.

Success can also be seen in the problems solved, the opportunities opened, the knowledge shared, and the trust preserved.

Perhaps one day people will no longer remember who first wrote the code of an application, who designed a system, or who started a company. But I hope the benefits of those works can still be felt.

And if one day Megantara Nawa Karya becomes something great, I want its greatness to be seen not only in the size of its business — but in how many lives its works have touched in a positive way.

Because to me, the best work is not the work that merely makes its creator known, but the work that keeps giving benefit even when the name of its creator has been forgotten.

That is the hope I place in the name Megantara Nawa Karya. A name that reminds me to keep thinking more broadly, keep learning, keep creating, and never forget our responsibility to one another.

PT Megantara Nawa Karya

Beyond the limits of thought, creating works, expanding benefit.
